Direct Update From Shanghai

Quote Joe Borg Cardona.....
'This is without a doubt one of the best performances in recent TT history winning at the World Championships means everything. One gets to meet Country Champions and sometimes continental champions every win is special and is embeded well into a players career. I am glad this performance comes at the right time with our Juniors getting ready for International competition'

Today Simon was in action playing vs a super Egyptian No. 2 player. Simon played an aggresive FH attack game pouncing on every opportunity to conclude balls early. He had a determining interchangeable game of spin and forceful attack.

Day 1 - 30/04/05

Direct Update From Shanghai

Simon Gerada has convincingly won his three matches.......

Edward Baldacchino played the game of his life against Korea playing his heart out and putting the Korean counterpart under pressure. This was a true sight. Edward was winning 9-7 at one point with his Koreas coach on guard for any clues he might give to his player.

Edward also played well aginst Phillipines playing a good attacking game. Edward's receives were well placed and timed and most of the time he managed to catch out the Filipino champion offguard on his FH side. Another quick and brilliant performace from the team.....

Mario played against Norway's No 3 player and also placed Norways stalwarth on his guard as he dueced in the first set playing some outstanding third ball attacks which were unreturnable. The third set Mario won convincingly. In the 5th and final set Mario lost exceptionally close to the relief of famous coach Ulf 'Tikkan' Carlsson.

Next match was in the main hall for Mario were he battled out against Cambodias No 1. Mario started off a little on the passive side studying his opponent but swtched cards to a more determining game using forceful blocks to change distance and tactics. Mario went on to win 4-0 and finished third in the group.

Here deadful weather.....We all played brilliantly and without a doubt the best has been Simon's performance as he is through to the next round.
